Yes, Pickle Boss® offers delivery in local area up to 30 mile radius. A delivery and convenience fee will be charged. For non-local deliveries, Pickle Boss® Store offers delivery through various third-party delivery services, e.g., USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc.
Unless otherwise stated, our pickled products are shelf-stable before opening for at least 12 months when stored in a cool, dark, dry place, such as a pantry, and for as long as the hermetic seal is in tact. We recommend refrigeration after opening. After refrigeration, shelf life is indeterminate, but are best consumed within a few months for best taste.
Refrigeration is not required, but recommended for best crunch, flavor, and freshness. Many people prefer them at room temperature. We are developing a line of refrigerator pickles that will require refrigeration.
Unless otherwise indicated, orders will ship no earlier than 14 days and NLT 30 days after the order is placed. Seasonal orders are shipped during the specified time window.
Customers will be notified if shipments will be later than anticipated, and will be offered a full refund if shipment is delayed. Local area orders can be arranged for pick up or delivery with no shipping costs, but may incur a courtesy delivery fee.
We keep little-to-no inventory on hand. Orders are shipped (or available for pick up/meet-up) according to schedule provided. This is a part-time business. Everything is made according to our free time.
No shipping will be charged for orders made in person or online, and where local delivery or pick up is requested and arranged (Louisville or Fort Knox area). Otherwise, shipping will be charged automatically on website orders, and may not be refunded. Courtesy fees may be applied if we deliver your order locally, but you may pick up your orders without a courtesy fee.
No. We use honey in our brines, and many vegans do not eat honey, so we do not claim to be vegan. We are considering developing an additional brine that uses agave instead of honey.
Most of our flavors are gluten-free, including fan favorites mild (Peacemakers) and extra spicy (Heartbreakers) garlic dills. Firecrackers (Fireball candy, peppermint), Honey Jacks (whiskey), and Wasabi-Gingers, popular during the holiday and homecoming season, are also gluten-free. While most flavors are gluten-free, flavors in development, e.g., garlic ranch, may not be a finished gluten-free product.
Not yet. We are currently developing a line of gherkins (small whole pickles).
Kentucky Hot Flashes were named by my friend and fellow veteran, Elvia Palumbo, one of the first taste-testers when I was preparing for the Kentucky State Fair competition. Many others agreed that the name suited the unexpected spicy kick, so it stuck. Some fans have also shortened the name to Kentucky Hots.
Our pickles are satisfyingly tangy-sour, but not made using a traditional sour technique. We use a vinegar brine, and traditionally-made sour pickles do not use a vinegar brine.
As for kosher pickles, our recipe uses generous amounts of garlic, with kosher salt, but also with our own signature ingredients, including raw honey and fruit extracts.
